Mr. Patel in the newsagents always reminds me of my granddfather and I've suddenly realised why. Among all the yobs and chavs, slags and wanna-be WAGs Mr. Patel is a gentleman and represents the last vestiges of what it was once like to be an Englishman.

Cheer up! There are many yobs and chavs around, but you see them partly because they hang around outside and draw attention to themselves by speaking loudly, speaking badly and dressing inappropriatly. But I think there are still many English gentlemen around! Just dont expect to find them on street corners.

There is a Mr Patel who shops at the cash & carry where I work who calls everyone "my friend" which I think is nice.
There are lots of decent caucasians in Britain but they are quiet and polite and thus sink into the background while the brash, crass, ignorant and drunk swagger, bellow, guffaw and bray their way through the streets making a bad impression.

A different time, A different generation, unfortunately with different values, a different upbringing, In reality a part of evolution, you go with what you know, every 10 - 15 years will cause a generation gap which makes us more different from before, we can't stop change, but if we try hard enough we can make this world a better place!

I like to think of myself as a gentleman, and hope to raise my son with the same polite values. I also believe good etiquette is essential!!
