Bio- tech is better!Hep and upcoming with lotsa scope.U can create new varieties of plants by tissue culture and all.It has lotsa applications.U can research in this field and can study gene replacement under this too.

Bioinformatics is quite boring in my experience. About correcting silly syntax errors in biological databases and such.
You might consider biostatistics also. Or biology. Or biochemistry.
It really depends on the curricula of the universities you're considering, since the definition of the borders between those disciplines vary from uni to uni. Talk to some people from the biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics and biotech departments at the relevant uni.

Bioinformatics is more on database on biological molecules. It is quite IT in nature.
You can verify it by going to websites on bioinformatics and checking its contents. Usually, I feel it is quite oriented towards programming.
