I just asked my friend and he says it gets to about 50-55 F

As long as you've got a winter coat (or a puffa jacket) and a hat, perhaps, you'll be OK. It's unlikely to be absolutely freezing and you'll probably be able to walk round with your coat/puffa jacket open.
