I took engineering, so I'd say the workload.

College can be good, but you need to be prepared for it. I would have done things differently if I'd known more when I was graduating high school. Don't go to college if you just want someone to teach you. That was high school. College sets up the frame work for you to learn and think, but you need to take the initiative.

The whole thing is a waste of time. In the end all a degree is is a piece of paper. Im in my 3rd year at a big name state school and I havent learned anything of value, or that I didnt know already. Basically you pay 100$ for a book, then pay a lecturer 500$ to read it to you, its a joke.

- Parking (you either had to arrive by 6am or drive around in circles when parking on the street, or you had to buy a garage pass for over $600)
- 8:00am classes (these were terrible, everyone was tired, the teachers were grumpy, and it was hard to arrive on time)
- Exam week (one quarter, I had 3 exams on the same day!)
- Registering for classes (it is hard to get into good classes at good times and with good professors. They are usually closed by the time freshman and sophmores get to register. This is easier to do for upperclassmen though)
- Buying textbooks (they are so expensive - shop early, buy them used, check online for cheaper prices, split the cost with a friend and share the book, ask upperclassmen if they will let you borrow theirs, only buy what is absolutely required)
