I was just reading another question, and one of the answers ended up saying that WoW has the best pvp of all MMO's. Incorrect. Ultima Online clearly has the best PVP (along with many other features, but definitely NOT the graphics), and I had assumed that was common knowledge by now.

WoW does have a good pvp system in place, I'm not knocking it, it's just that it's not quite as good as UO's.

First of all, there's that pesky little BS of rogues simply jumping behind mages over and over. Seriously, how stupid is that? That's like the Easy button from Staples, only it's the Win button for dexxers. Second, there are a set number of different armor pieces in WoW, with only enchantments offering variation. Ditto for the weaps.

In UO, you have to search and search for a weapon that suits your needs. There's hardly any pre-set weapons, it's all random. This gives you a reason to keep killing stuff....in search of the perfect weap/armor. Plus, the spell system is far superior to WoW

In UO it's not all random. If you want a mage you simply find a suit to max out your resist, then 2/6 casting, lmc, lrc, mr, 15 sdi. That's the core for all mages. Then just add hci/dci if you want to use a weapon or w/e. These suits are not at all hard to get. You walk around vendors and they sell pieces to these suits. You could build one of the best suits UO lets you have for probly 70 million gold pieces, which is less then 140 bucks since gold is selling for less then 2 dollars a mil and falling. You can make 140 dollars in a day can't you? The armor you get in UO may be random when you hunt for them or craft them but everyone want's the same mods on their suits for their type of character. Now I haven't played WoW long enough to see what armor most pvp characters go for, but from what I see most armor pieces might just give you stats and 1% at dodge or such. Well balanced. There's also 8 races you can play on WoW vs 2 races for UO. Races in UO are crap also, nearly everyone goes elf for 20 mana for pvp. Too unbalanced. The skills in UO are also unbalanced and broke. Mages block nearly everything with parry and 30 dex. Parry is suppost to work with dex and you need 80 to get the full benefit but mages get the full benefit somehow with 30 dex. Mages with just max out dci and no parry is still very hard to even hit. Only way to kill a parry mage 1on1 is to be a parry mage or a poison dexxer or a bush archer and that's if the mage doesn't chain disarm you. Those are pretty much your choices for pvping. Parry mage, poison dexxer or bush archer. If you use another template to try and kill one of those characters your going to need a friend or two to outnumber them if you can keep up with them. Some people just ride mounts way to fast and theres nothing you can do to catch them or stop them. I don't know if they use programs or its just a really good connection its bs. There shouldn't be anyone riding a mount all over the place and no one able to catch up to them and GM and devs don't do anything about this problem. I really hate the spell system for UO. Mage can precast almost every spell. If you get 4 mages to precast flamestrike and release it on the same target he has no chance to surviving it since spells are 100% no miss unless your a samurai with parry and have a weapon in your hand. I can keep going on with the bad things about UO but I don't want to waste too much time. Only things I even like about UO is being able to have a house to store your things and the ability to change a character from being a swordsman to an archer to whatever you want and soulstones are neat too. UO is for players who want to be the best overpowered mage in a very very small pvp population game. (That should tell you something) Most of UO players are in trammel where there is no pvping other then inside your own guild. Friends I knew that didn't want to move to WoW was because they spent years on this game when it was better then all this and there was no WoW. They just didn't want to start another MMO game. Most of them quit and starting finding other hobbies. Many for the newer players to UO moved to WoW. I still got an account with UO tho. Just hoping the dev would make the game better somehow and fast. I'm finding myself spending what use to be my UO time playing WoW. It just has better and more balanced everything.

So, you haven't seen a frost mage vrs a rogue? Honestly, my problem with WoW PvP has more to do gear then rogues. Then again, I've been a Hunter for most of my PvP time. And I think I've killed as many alliance as horde with my warlock (lol, infernal).
