What is the Relationship between the Literature and the Sex?

If you want to be a famous novelist, should you write about sex in your novels? If you do not want to write about erotic issues or even erotic scenes, will you be a famous writer or no one will read your novels? Can you give me examples of famous writers who did not write about sex in their novels?
