I moved in London and start looking for a job in Online marketing. Put my job on Monster, but I have very desirable/valuable skills and recruiters are now harassing me and I suspect it's gonna be very confusing.
How many recruitment agencies should I work with? My gut feeling would be to keep just two or three, but any advice?

as many of the reputable ones as you can - why not after all the more recruitment agencies you deal with the more jobs you have access to.

Good luck x

Different situations merit different responses to that questions.

You are a desirable individual with valuable skills, so I would say 3-4. If you were inexperienced, uneducated, no training, the whole phone book. Catch the drift.

Don't just register with someone you like. Look at their advert quality (A tacky picture and mangled text is bad, clear concise and well presented is the ones you want), check their website (An agent with good clients is a good sign) and talk to them on the phone.

One interview I went to involved sitting in armchairs drinking coffee whilst talking. This recruitment agency always seem to do good for me.

finding a good recruitment company can be a nightmare. It depends if your job is short term or permanent. if you are looking for permanenet jobs then you should probably only deal with one, possibly two agencies, it doesn't help if the same CV's are being trawled round by several agencies (they may take umbrage and not out you forward)

if its short term contract then get your CV out with as many agencies as possible. contracts are a differnet matter, the agency doesn't give a stuff about you or the customer, they just want to place a warm body in the slot so they can rake of their fees - me bitter? nah, I just call 'em pimps (often to their face) as thats all they care about pimping a body.

Listen to your gut, but also, if there are four or five reputable agencies that have a high success rate, be sure to keep them all in the bag. Good luck :o)

I registered with a good few initially. However, i find that i am only actually in touch with 2 or 3. I keep in regular contact as well and i feel that i can actually approach them with any queries/problems that i also have.

As meny agencies as possible - at one stage I was registered with 12. And none of them found me work. I got my current job through the local paper.

I would go in and see them, you will get a feel for the business's mentality and therefore the outward image they project to their clients.

If you like them, sign up but I, personally, would stick to a couple at each time to be able to monitor their messages to you

Good Luck!
