If you're looking for a comfortable pregnancy, you need a reality check.

There are some things you can do and have to make the discomforts less.

Make sure you've got a commited, helpful, supportive and loving partner. If you're going to use an OB or Midwife, find one that's compatible to you, listens to your concerns and questions, and isn't c-section happy.

Relax. Pregnancy is a normal, natural event. Enjoy every miserable and happy moment of it because it's only a short time. By the time you feel the little hands and feet moving around, it's almost over and you'll most likely miss that feeling.

If you're plan a late summer or early autumn baby, get yourself a pool to soak at least your feet in. Work on your posture, will help avoid a lot of the backache. Get a long body pillow for belly and knee support in the last trimester. Eat healthy. Avoid foods and drinks with high sugar content.

Don't sweat the small stuff. If you can, find a preggy buddy. Someone who'll be due around the same time. Check out babycenter.com or babycentre.co.uk

Get plenty of rest, take your vits and drink plenty of water. And as a novel idea? Talk to your mum. She's a lady who's been there and will give you a fairly good idea of what you can expect during your own pregnancy and labor.

Unfortunatly, other than folic acid which is for baby, there is nothing you can really do.

Every pregnancy and every woman is different, 1 woman might have 4 very different pregnancies.

You can do your bit by eating well, relaxing and getting enough sleep when you are pregnant. Don't let anything stress you out and remain calm even if things aren't going to plan.

Don't read to many books about pregnancy - your mind starts working overtime!

Good luck and all the best!

I am 23 weeks pregnant... and I have a 8 year old.. my first pregnancy was very easy... I was never sick, nor had any problems. This pregnancy... well is a total different story. I have been sick the entire way through and have had some problems. What I am getting at is every pregnancy is different... There is not a way to know if you are going to have a "comfortable pregnancy"... my advice is have fun with it...

Just make sure you're as fit and well as you can be. Start taking folic acid now and eat a healthy diet. Unless you're overweight, don't start dieting now.

Most of all just relax! You can't guarantee an easy pregnancy, no matter how fit you are but worrying about it will only cause more problems.

The BBC Health pages have some good advice.

Just be yourself and don't go for an overdrive. Nurturing a life within you is a great experience but many women tend to overdo it. You don't have to go great lengths. In particular, be very active throughout the pregnancy and look forward to a normal delivery. Bonding between you and the baby will be very strong if your dependence on comforts is minimum.

Sweetheart, pregnancy isn't comfortable no matter what you do. You swell up and feel like a whale by the time you're going to have the baby. It's something every pregnant woman goes through, and you can't prevent it. It's a part of life! :o)

my son's 4 months old now. it's been the best time of my life. my pregnancy wasn't overly easy but I loved every moment of it. And the time I've had with my son has been the best time of my life. My advice to you is relax... don't spend all your time worring. find a couple of good pregnancy books so you know what to expect, things like feelings and sensations, that means you won't worry so much cos you'll know whats normal, you'll know roughly what to do and not to do and there there all the day and for that 3am panic!!! best of all enjoy every new kick, feeling it hicup inside you, watching your belly grow... theres so much to enjoy. Treasure every moment. Share every moment you can with your partner, family and friends. Enjoy shopping for baby things. If things get on top of you which they will at times take time to breathe.. no matter where you are. It's a trully magical time and I can't wait to have my next!!! Good luck and I hope it all goes well for you. xx

Plan nothing. be sensible and follow the guidelines. i.e healthy eating, exercise etc. but dint be thinking everything follows the pa terns set in books. take every day at a time and enjoy it. Birth plans are a nice idea but disappointment follows if you have to do something else that's not in your plan so my advice is dint make one. discuss your wishes with partner, family friends and the midwife but always remember that that cam change. good luck and enjoy it.

No, you can't really prepare for that, just make sure you take pregnacare or some other folic acid and vit supplement as soon as you start trying.
Not having to work will also help
