Try Open Office:

http://www.openoffice.org/

It is basically a free Microsoft Office replacement. The word processor has the ability to save as a pdf file - very nice thing to have.

Highly recommended package by the way.

You will ned a pdf writer for that. And if your next question is where you can find it then its not available freely, you will have to get a licenced one.

Or try getting in touch with someone who might have a pdf writer.

You can use Adobe Photoshop (verson 6) when scanning documents, then when its already scan, use SaveAs to save it as .pdf file.

When you're in Photoshop, click File - Import (see if your scanning device was there).
