In terms of brain development, if you want to take a psychological point of view, most 18 year old's brains are still in "adolescent' development, and not fully adult.
I don't necessarily agree with that, but it could be a logical argument. at age 21 or 22 is when most people's brains are fully adult.

I agree, the voting age should be 21.
At 18, you usually still live with your parents and their influence affects your vote a lot more than your own opinions.
IMO- most 18 year olds are too immature to vote, because they don't understand the issues.
That's most, not all. Some do pay attention and know what's going on. Also, an exception should be made for anyone serving in the military.

As an United States citizen when we turn 18 we reach the age of majority. We are afforded the right to vote, gamble, join the military (for males they must register), and generally become productive parts of society. What I can't believe is that someone can join the military at 18, go fight and possibly die for this country or another but they certainly are not allowed to buy a beer. 18 used to be the legal drinking age, and as far as I'm concerned, if you are in the military, it still should be.
