Hello Everybody,
Married for 4 yrs now.Decided to have a baby. This forum answered nearly all questions regarding 'Ovulation'.many Thanks for that.
But, my wife's period were delayed this month, we thought that. my wife is pregnant. But, after 'Sonography Test', Doc said that, there is 'Haemorhagic Cyst' measuring 3x 2.2 cms. in left ovary.
Could anybody tell us, what this means??
We are somewhat scared, especially my wife.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Thanks....

A cyst is a name for a structure in the body containing fluid. Typically it is round or spherical but can take other forms too.

(eg. infection of the bladder (contains fluid, right) = cystitis)

An ovarian cyst is a type of cystic structure that appears to be in the ovary or attached to it.

It seems that your wife has an ovarian cyst of some sort (there are many kinds and some of them can release hormones that might interfere with the menstrual cycle).

Haemorrhagic means that there is some bleeding into the cyst.

This is not likely to be something that will cause serious harm, but it can cause pain. Very rarely will a cyst cause massive bleeding into the abdomen. If that was the case, your wife would

1) have been much sicker
2) show lots of fluid in her belly on the ultrasound - but this isn't the case (or you would have been rushed to hospital)

In most cases, a cyst is a physiological phenomenon. When an egg cell grows, the follicle around it grows too. When the follicle releases the egg, it remains as a type of ovarian cyst called "corpus luteum" (yellow body cyst)

You should talk some more with your doctor as he/she may well be able to give you more information - is the cyst physiological or does it represent

-an ectopic pregnancy
-endometriosis
-cancer? (this is very unlikely)
-something else (there are some wierd things that can crop up - dermoid cysts where teeth and hair and other things can grow in them etc.)

I have appended some websites that you might find useful in further reading.

hemorrhagic cyst just means there is little blood inside the cysts. I used to have cysts on my ovaries but I did a lot of walking about 7 miles at least once a week in one go. It helped me to loose weight and feel good. I had a scan a year later, the cysts were gone. I would suggest her losing weight and perhaps taking a little "cider vinegar, organic with "mother" one teaspoon to 4 parts of water and sip after each meal, this will help break the cysts and neutralize any poisons in her body as a result of food intake. Proteins such as meat and fish take a few days to digest in the stomach as well as producing polution as a by product. She should avoid "acid foods in high quantities" Its better to eat alkaline foods. ( check the internet). You can also massage her stomach, this will help circulation or even gently use those exercise pad machines just to help circulation and stimulation.

If your doctor doesn't sit down with you and explain everything to a T with you, and answer all and any questions you have.... then you need to find another doctor.
