Firstly, there is no authority to tell you what the purpose of life is. You are alive and are an expression of life. No one outside, no person, books, philosophy, science or dogma is in a better position to give you an answer to this question. The moment you accept any of these to be the answer, you have killed your own personal enquiry.

Let us explore the questions. The questions are based on certain assumptions.
1. That there is a purpose.
2. That we are in a position to find out.
3. That if we do know the purpose it would make life better in someway.

When we assume that there is purpose, this assumption is based on the cultural inputs and lifestyle we have been conditioned with. Without being told that there is purpose, this question would never arise. Our lives have become so repetitive and mundane that we are bored and dissatisfied, and then we think this cannot be it; there must be something more, some grandeur.

Even if there was a purpose, to think that the intellect is in a position to find out what it is seems silly. To find out the purpose of a project for example one must look at the vision statement. This vision statement has been created so that all the people involved in the project can know what they are moving towards. If life had such a mission statement it would most probably be the DNA which contains all the information required for life. You don’t need to know a thing about breathing, or digestion to be able to carry it out. Why does the intellect, give itself so much significance?

Let’s assume that there is a purpose and that the intellect can figure it out. (There are several such "purposes" we have come up with in the past and will continue to) What difference does it make to the individual? The self concept in its very structure is designed to keep this question going. In other words to never fully accept any answer. The moment it accepts that there is no answer that would satisfy the question (that in fact the question itself is based on indoctrination of culture) that would undermine the significance of the intellect and the existence of the self as we know it.

The is no purpose. Life is a very has a very neutral stance. But here are somethings that we can do while we are alive:
1) Seek happiness
2) Be happy
3) Share your happiness with other people
4) Make others happy
4) Appreciate life itself
And all these can be achieved without needing to have a purpose in life.

Unless you assume a GOD, The question of life's purpose is meaningless. Even the greatest minds in the whole world can't possibly answer your question with authority! If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with GOD! You were born by his purpose and for his purpose. If I handed you a new product, you wouldn't know it's purpose, even the product can't tell you its purpose. Only the maker of that product could reveal to you its purpose. Only HE can tell you that!

What is the purpose of life?
For me: To die
For you? it's you to decide

Why were we put here?
some said it's fate
some said it's a test
some said it's cycle of life
some said it's God's will
some said it's because you haven't become Buddha
and many more,
but for me? It's just simply because we're borned.

Hmm that's what most of us are trying to find out.

To find out your pupose in life, ask yourself, if money was no concern and you had all the time and money in the world, what would you do? If you would still do what you currently do, then you have found your purpose in life, because you have 'passion' for what you do-you are expressing your unique talents. Then ask yourself: How am i best suited to serve humanity? Answer the question, and put it into practice.

Well, then if there is no god, then you are an accident, a cog in a machine and no purpose. According to evolution you are an accident. Your brain is an accident, and this entire universe is an accident. Unscientific evolution is based on evidence unobservable and unrepeatable events. So to summarize, if the universe came about by chance and random processes, then the earth came about by chance and random processes, life came about by chance and random processes, you came about by chance and random processes, your brain came about by chance and random processes, that would mean your thinking also originated by chance and random processes. So how do you know what you are thinking is not affected by chance and random processes? This is a logical digression. Your search is in vain without God.

We all have a purpose on this earth and it is our duty to understand it and carry it out. But it is also everyone's duty to be a better person, neighbour, son/daughter, sibling etc which is the base for everything. We complement each other by our differences and diverse skills. And it is our job to help each other in each others journey through life.
