Water with sugar in it. The sweetness will attract them, and hopefully they'll drown.

Dissolve lots of sugar in hot water and let it cool down. The resulting cold syrup will attract the wasps but it needs to be in a wasp trap.

What people haven't told you is this. Make sure you put the top back on the jar after making a hole in it only big enough the size of a wasp. Otherwise you are just feeding the wasps nice sugar water!!
Putting the lid back on traps the wasps inside and then they drown...ha ha ha...I hate wasps!!

Water with sugar added. It mimics the nectar that wasps collect from flowers.

Everyone had the correct answer. But sugar water is great for attracting hummingbirds also.
One quart of water heated and one cup of sugar dissolved in it. After cooling pour it into the feeder.
