I don't know about the ocean, but marine fish in an aquarium can live for decades. A short life span for a marine aquarium fish is between 1 and 2 years. I currently have a seven year old clown fish in my tank.

LIFE SPAN is about a year... it depends upon the species of a fish... you did not clarify....
say like tiny fish has a life span...mere 8 weeks about....unlike rock fish has a long span...it depends upon how they live beneath and how they handle pressure.
