What you're experiencing is normal as a result of your changing hormones. But I feel ya...facial hair on women is not attractive and shaving is NOT an option!

The only permanent way to remove the unwanted hair is laser removal or electrolysis. These can be costly and painful (yes, even laser is painful). Laser will only work on hair that has pigment in it; blonde and white/grey hairs cannot be removed.

The other alternative is waxing. There are some inexpensive waxing kits you can get at any drug store. Sally Hansen makes an effective, easy to use wax strip kit. But this, too, can be very painful. Just make sure you pull your skin very taught, or else you'll just rip your skin and cause serious redness. The other problem with waxing facial hair is that it can cause hyperpigmentation (dark splotches or "shadow" at the waxed sites).

If you're dealing with just a few hairs, you can pluck them individually with tweezers. Because this is hormonally related hair growth, you'll have to repeat the process once or twice a month. Some women are lucky and lose the hairs permanently after repeated and consistent plucking.

I have tried all of the above (except for electrolysis). The only thing that has worked well for me is laser hair removal. I've had my upper lip, chin and under chin done. It has taken 8 treatments and $1,600 dollars but has been well worth it. I also had to spend a little extra for a skin bleacher (Obagi, Clear) to get rid of the hyperpigmentation. I'm currently using that, with positive results.

Hope this has been helpful. Good luck!

Are you doing a lot of strenuous exercises? If so, this could increase testosterone levels. Are you on the 'Pill'? This could affect hormone levels.
