I have been with my partner for 6 years, and love him very much. He is very kind to me, but when we are out with friends etc he always tries to make me look stupid by making up something funny I have done. I think he does it so that he is thought of as a joker - but it is becoming very annoying to me and quite upsetting. If I mention it to him he says I am being silly and that everyone likes to have a laugh.
How shall I deal with this?

the balls idea is funny. But if after talking to him about it he still won't accept its funny turn the tables on him! Tell all your friends a story about him that makes him look stupid - see how he likes it.
If he still won't accept there is a problem then there may be a bigger problem - ie he is trying to make you look stupid to undermine you and in that case you really do need to have counselling if you want to stay together.

Next time he embarrasses you just embarrass him straight back, I'm sure he must have done something really stupid before, if it gets too personal though it might end up ruining your relationship.
Do you always go out as a couple, why not go out on your own with your friends separately?
I think you need to be really firm with him, sit him down and really talk to him tell him you really don't appreciate him making everyone laugh at you. A laugh is something that everyone should laugh along with, not laughing at someone!
Good luck and if it carries on and really upsets you go find another fish in the sea, nobody deserves to be unhappy.

the next time you get invited tell him you would like to go alone because he makes you feel very uncomfortable....
Keep telling him that it is not funny anymore.
If all else fails then turn the tables and make him look small infront of his friends by saying that sometimes you wish he had a bigger.....That should kill it there and then.

Do the same to him, something that will make him squirm like when you do the washing you have to add extra washing powder to get rid of the skid marks in his underwear and sweat stains in his shirts, and make him feel small so he knows how you feel.

Make up just as many "funny" Stories about him. When he get a taste of his own medicine he'll not be long seeing where you are coming from

well if his not going to listen think of somthing awfull he has done then tell all his friend after he has just spilt his guts over you, then see if he thinks it's funny. but seriously if he wont stop embarrasing you tell him streight your going to leave if he dont stop,dont let any man belittle you thats how it starts by taking away your confidence,dont let it happen thats not love...

When his friends laugh, look them in the eye and tell his friends if they think that's funny, wait'll they hear the way he talks about them.

i was the same as your partner and i know he does it as a joke without realising the pain you suffer. he will stop eventually if you keep telling him, in the meantime do the same to him.
