A reasoned argument well put.
My mother in law is well over weight and when we go around for dinner she always makes sure that her plate has loads more food than anyone else. As the host you would think she would look after her guests but in her reasoning, her need is more important.
I don't mind too much though because her cooking is pretty bad and when she comes round to our house I give more food to everyone else and watch her face drop! Priceless.....

Look, some people are large, some are not. Greed and eating are nothing alike. Something to help you that is not a diet... When you want seconds, make it out of reach. When you're ordering a meal big enough for two, offer to share (that proves non-greediness). Just because food is delicious, sometimes it's better to eat less of it. Try to remember to do excises too, to get rid of the fat that's already available. Try to start up a sport you enjoy. Or go to the pool.

I think being fat is more sign of the society we live in. Anyone can get whatever they want and have an infinite supply of it.
If your argument were correct that would mean people are more selfish now than ever before. I find it more likely that we're just better fed and can't stop eating.
P.S Santa's fat and he's not selfish.

No, I think that being over weight has a lot ot do with people and their eating habits and activity levels or lack of activity levels. Next time you need something, ask a fat person to borrow something and a skinny person, the fat person will 9/10 time give it to you quicker than the skinny person. Then come back and say who gave you what you needed first, I don't think fat people are greedy.

Being fat has nothing to do with being selfish. You are being taught by someone that is trying to make you skinnier, but doesn't know how to deal with you. You are not selfish, you simply have eating habits that aren't good for your health. You, and only YOU, can change that. Be good to yourself, and your pride, look before you eat. Sharing means you give to others, and you won't convince me that you stoled someone else's food every day for a year resulting in your being fat, especially if the person you stoled it from is still alive.

NOT at all! Some fat people obviously ate too much constantly. They called it obese. SOme are just being depressed and so they want to eat yummy foods to divert their depression:) Some are so happy that they're carried away,And also eat more!! So, It's not really b'coz ur selfish. But, If you are motivated with your partner, friends boys/girls, Or with someone that you really care and you want them to be impress on you, And of course, You want to look good right? Then, you can defeat that Glutony! Try to lose weight. It's better and you will be happy most of the time;)

Being fat is a sign of trying to protect yourself from your fellow human beings. Which is why criticising people for being fat just doesn't work and makes them seek more protection (food). Many people who are fat have been sexually abused as children and don't deserve to be further oppressed for trying to protect themselves!
Of course not all fat is caused by oppression. It can be glandular, but they are certainly oppressed in our society once they become fat, as your question highlights! All this criticism of your fellow humans has been exported by the US to the rest of the world, and is a vicious aspect of capitalism that none of us need. I don't believe that people who feel good about themselves get fat, and the sad thing is that most people are too dim to realize (or don't care!) that what people who have this problem need is appreciation and approval for who they are. Then maybe, when they feel valued enough they'll be able to lose weight. Some will need help to recover from abuses though, those stay with you for life if you don't deal with them. The fatter the person, the more they are trying to protect themselves. So how about helping them, NOT criticising? You too may have things you need help with, and if we are all busy looking for faults in each other, the world is never going to feel safe for any of us.

A tendency to overeat and under exercise makes people obese. It does not lead to an emotional compulsion to become selfish with food nor a greedy person by nature.

No....your theory makes no sense. Some people just don't know when to stop eating, it has nothing to do with being greedy or selfish.

There are all sorts of reasons people are fat:
Overeating
Under exercising
Slow Metabolism
Not all fat people or greedy/lazy - I know people who are really skinny and weigh next to nothing but they eat twice as much as friends that are overweight.
Just the hand life deals you I'm afraid.

Wow. That's a sliding scope fallacy. you could be fat for a number of reasons and yes food is number one. maybe lack of exercise. It could be in your genes (or hanging out of your jeans) and some get fat while pregnant thinking they are helping the baby only to see that they gained 50 lbs not including the baby and it could be hard to get off. Maybe it's the bad toxins in the food. or the steriods that they feed the chicken and cows and we eat them. That makes us fat too, you know.
