because you make money in your business, and not from your house. Council tax is only for private homes. If you use part of your house to run a busianeess from you should inform them, you will tehn get a separate taxes for you business and house, and may get part of you council tax discounted. Business rates are different as they are based on size of property only, and not on resale value.
