when horses eat grass why does it sound crunch??

You're probably hearing their teeth click together. this happens with all foods and horses.

I am curious why the title of this post is "horse breath" but your question isn't related?

Not all horses "crunch" their food. However, if any noise is coming from soft foods like some grass or brand, it is their teeth grinding. Which means either their teeth or off set by either having an under or over bit (parrot mouth) or they need dental work of some sort.
