It's not a question of whether Iran has a right to develop nuclear weapons. All sovereign nation-states have a right.
BUT, Iran signed on to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and promised that it would never develop nuclear weapons. So the REAL question is, does Iran have the right to go back on its word???? I say, no!

No country should have nuclear weapons but since that would be impossible now, no other country should pursue nuclear technology with the aim of developing WMDs.
Countries like Iran who's bent on developing their nuclear program should agree to a verifiable program compliant to IAEA rules. If not Iran must never be allowed to go any further in view of their obsession with eliminating Israel. This is non acceptable behavior from a member country of the UN. In addition to its belligerance Iran sponsors militia groups active outside of the country - a hostile policy in advancing their fundamentalist cause in the region.
Until Iran does a Libya, the "right" which has to be earned must be withdrawn. It is the responsibility of the free world to ensure that nations like Iran toe the line.

According to the UN, they dont have the right to have a Nuclear Bomb, but they do have the right to use nuclear power for energy needs.
Urinium enrichment is necessary for both, USA & other allied countries assumes that Iran is using the enrichment for weapons, Iran says it is using it for energy needs & is willing to co-operate with the UN Inspectors to monitor the process.

Iran has the right to have nuclear plants, but nobody should have atomic weapons. Or any weapons at all.
Practically speaking, Iran, according to the secret agencies (and according to the exterme speeches of the president), means a threat to the world, so they shouldn't have nuclear weapons.

No - Iran has shown itself not to be a responsible nation when it comes to any types of WMD. No nation has a right to have such weapons - it really comes down to the fact that those nations that can feel its okay to allow Iran to develop them or acquire them from a nation that already has them. In a better world such weapons would not exist in the arsonal of any nation-state - but the reality of the matter is that they do. The US and other nations do not have to respect the soverign rights of a nation state to have nuclear weapons. This especially is illegal for Iran because it signed the Non-poliferation Treaty that it stated it would not acquire such weapons.

All i know is this,
that in the 70's the ford adminstration pushed the idea of nuclear power on iran.
Does iran want nuclear bombs, i don't know.
But if a country wants nuclear power, at what point does that become the U.S's decision?
i understand that the more nukes in the world the more unstable the world becomes.
but what was the proof of a nuclear arms program....wasn't that what Valerie Plame was investigating before her cover was blown?
hard to tell what is true these days.

Unfortunantly no country in the mid-east should have any nuclear weapons this includes Israel seeing as it has been the only country in recent history to ever consider using them against its neighbors as proven through declassified reports from 1973 where Israel was preparing arms with warhead capabilities against its neighbor Syria and Iran . Iran would certainly stop pursuing Nuclear weapons as soon as Israel disarmed It's nukes .

Your grand parents were against the Third Reich which had rockets and was trying to get a nuclear bomb. Sane and civilized people are against hate filled fanatics period...Much less those with the potential and desire to end the world as you know it today.
If someone hated you intensely for no valid reason would you want them to have a button that would destroy you and yours?
You mistakenly equate ancient animalistic hatred in the same league as civilized thought! That is where you should consider modifying your thought!

who has the right any where in the world to determine the course of events in another country .
Should they develop the bomb and attempt to use it ,they no full well it is the end of thier country .
I have no doubt in my mind that this will happen in the middle east , before to long.
I worrie more about a terrorist group smuggeling one into the U.S.A. then i do them using it on each other .
THAT type of instant and total obliteration scares them .
THIER souls will not travel to heaven but be instantly destroyed .
THIS blast is a soul killing blast that disrupts electrical impulses heavy radiation and nothiing survives including your soul . IT does not have a chance to leave your body at 3000 degrees of instantanious heat and blast wave .
THEY have seen what a nuke can do and the body must be clean at death so a nuke makes it impossible to be in that state .
