If yuur questions refers to WWII, England had a treaty with Poland which forced it into war as well as France. Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939 without provocation, based on a lie. Sound familiar?

It wasn't England as such, it was The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland....
