Yes, it's pretty easy. Just make sure:
1) You've got the right type of memory for your PC. In the past 5 years, there have been four main types:

a) SDRAM (eg PC100, PC133)
b) RAMBUS (aka "RIMM", "RDRAM", eg PC800)
c) DDR (aka "DDR SDRAM", eg PC2700)
d) DDR-2 (eg PC2-5300)
There are various speeds available but you can almost always use a faster speed chip in a lower speed system.

If your PC is less than 4 years old it will probably need DDR, unless it's really new - in that case it can probably also take DDR-2. Most other systems will take SDRAM. If your PC has an intel chip (e.g. early Pentium 4) and is about 2000/2001 vintage, it might need RAMBUS. In that case it's often easier to forget upgrading the RAM because that type of memory is rare and very expensive.

2) Switch off and unplug the PC (important to unplug because certain parts of the motherboard are still live after you shut down)

3) Don't use excessive force. Sometimes the clips get in the way without you realising.

Some people will make you paranoid about static electricity. Provided you don't wear rubber shoes on a nylon carpet you should be OK. You can also periodically touch one hand on the case of the PC to discharge any static from your body.

The easiest way is go to the Crucial.com website, from there you can scan your PC which then lets you know what memory you have, how much more you need what it cost and then it tells you the price and then you order if you want, its then sent next day by special delivery and comes with a complete guide and telephone support if you have any problems.

Whatever you do, wear antistatic wrist band or earth yourself by touching a radiator before you tinker - else the static charge will short circuit the cards, making them completely useless.

you just have to turn the computer off, take off the side, take out your old cards, they are on the motherboard, put the new ones in put the side back on and that's it.

yes thre's an installation procedure. i strongly suggest getting someone eelse who knows what they're doing. watch them and learn. if you screw up, you could easily mess up your entire computer....permanently.
