I am a bit confused here. Will US citizens pls answer !!!?
A three-part question :
(1) Why does the US government always and always has armed Isreal and not any other country in the region ? -- (2) Why this blatant and constant bias in favor of Israel ?
(3) Do US and England really want peace in the region or peace at any cost to other countried surrounding Israel.
My question is NOT sarcasm. It is out of a genuine wish to know. Thank you.

"tedgroathaus" -- the US does not sell... they GIVER it to Israel. The tiny country that is it, Israel does not have even 1% to amounts required to pay for all that armament !! 700 nuclear weapons which is what Israel has compared to 180 in England and 150 in France ?

"tedgroathaus" -- there is NO excuse for terrorism ! No excuse for taking innocent life of whichever side but if Israel is DISPORPOTIONATELY militariy armed in the region, does not that in itself tempt Israel to DICTATE in the region with no possibiility of opposition ? Isn't it a deterrent to BOTH attack and decent ? And if that is already happening (which I believe it is) how can other countries around them react ? HOW ???? !!! Is it not the burden on the US, and on Europe to stop all that carnage once and for all ?! You know something ? We don't care who dies and who suffers in that MESS ?!!!! That is the answer !!! And whether we are religious or atheists, that is a SIN !!!

The US has armed other countries in the region before. We used to be allies with Iran and Iraq, and we still ship arms to Saudi Arabia.
The difference is that Israel is the only one who hasn't turned on the US and started attacking the US.
So, the premise of your firs question is incorrect. And once the facts are correct, it answers the second question.
For the third, no they don't. They want peace in the region, but only if all the other countries are willing to volunteer to play nice with each other. Sadly, that's not going to happen (on its own) for centuries at best. Which is why we keep having wars in that region about once or twice a decade.
So far, all of the other countries are too squeamish to accept what needs to be done. Hezbollah has continued to attack Israel for decades, and every time Israel agrees to a cease-fire, Hezbollah just comes back stronger and launches another preemptive attack. And Hezbollah will continue doing this forever until they achieve their goal of "wiping Israel of the face of the map", or until they are hit so hard that they can't ever get up again.
Read the real-life parable below for an example of this problem.

In 1947, following increasing levels of violence together with unsuccessful efforts to reconcile the Jewish and Arab populations, the British government decided to withdraw from the Palestine Mandate. The UN General Assembly approved the 1947 UN Partition Plan dividing the territory into two states, with the Jewish area consisting of roughly 55% of the land, and the Arab area roughly 45%. Jerusalem was planned to be an international region administered by the UN to avoid conflict over its status.
Immediately following the adoption of the Partition Plan by the UN General Assembly on November 29, 1947, David Ben-Gurion tentatively accepted the partition, while the Arab League rejected it. Scattered attacks on civilians of both sides soon turned into widespread fighting between Arabs and Jews, this civil war being the first "phase" of the 1948 War of Independence.
The State of Israel was proclaimed on May 14, 1948, one day before the expiry of the Palestine Mandate.
Israel was admitted as a member of the United Nations on May 11, 1949.
Basically, the UN made Israel and none of the arab countries recognize it, and want to destroy it. So we arm them.

Right about the time -post Napoleon defeat- when Britain made a huge jump to rule the waves, it was understood that Arabs can be made to hate each other. Nothing new actually, it's the divide and rule idea, which dates back to Grek Philosophers.
Discovering crude proved an unexpected boon for bioth sides on balance and made the equation abstruse in the power of ten, but so what.
"Divide et impera"
It was applied to the full in the days of Lawrence in the ME and worked effectively so far to prevent any united front from ever developing. I assume it will be managed with equal success in the foreseeable future except for bumps.
Arabs USED to be something to reckon with but only until Lepanto, and the chasing from Spain, they been declining in science etc since. In a perfect, MODERATE world it wouldn't be so...everyone would just get along peacefully...but power is such a drug...what's the public to do except take it all in.
Like the weather...

America has a large Christian population who includes in the Bible the Jewish books of the Old Testament. Many Americans feel that the Jews are God's chosen people and that we should help them. Also in America there is a large and influential Jewish population that supports Israel as well. In addition to these factors, unfortunately many people in Islam have become radical and have employed terrorist tactics against both Israel and the U.S. Especially since 9/11 many Americans feel that the enemies of Israel are enemies of the U.S. and we should support Israel as they fight terrorist organizations. Israel was created through a U.N. mandate after the collapse of the Ottoman empire. After this collapse the U.N. created the borders of many middle eastern countries. However, it is only the borders of Israel that many Muslims do not accept or respect.

the US has supported kuwait against iraq, afganistan against russia, supplied many, many firearms that are being used by countries other than isreal. a few other instances that i don't remember.
update: true. i think that the US is generally of the thinking that Isreal is the victim, when what i think is that it has probably gone both ways for years. not sure, i don't know all the facts but it really doesn't look good when countries' leaders call for the destruction of isreal, and then muslims world-wide seem to support hezebollah. NOT trying to be antagonistic, because you don't seem biased, and everyone does pretty much have an opinion about it. God bless you, too.

The US has sold plenty of arms to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, so your part 1 is just not true. Why shouldn't the US support democratic Israel over Islamofascist nations? There's about a million Arab Israelis, but hardly any Arab countries tolerate Jewish resident.

I don't know but I'm sick of it. I haven't heard any politicians saying they're in favor of cutting the massive economic and military aid we send to israel.
If I did, they'd definitely have my vote.., unless israel adopted equal rights for everyone and stopped defining itself as a race-state.
I think part of the problem is that people over here equate anti-israel with anti-semitism, and nobody even wants to touch anti-semitism. The word is so overused it's nauseating.

I agree with you that Israel has disproportionately reacted to Lebanon. We don't give weapons to Israel - we sell them. I can't answer for England, but I am really tired of the constant wars in the Middle East. You might ask Arab leaders why they consistently refuse to reign in their various terrorist elements who don't want Israel to exist. I don't expect unbiased reporting from American media so I go to foreign news sites.

Because people tend to look out for their own kind, our government is mostly jewish or run by jews in one way or another, so they keep feeding them bombs and guns and weapons so they can kill the innocent, but if anyone like you questions that your automatticaly a racist or anti semetic, the media (which is run by jews too) will exploit a good person like mel gibson for telling the truth then all of america that doesnt understand sees that and just thinks mel is insane, its all a horrible horrible cycle. GOOD QUESTION!

US supports Israel because the Jews are the descendants of the Americans. It is because blood is thicker than water, thus, the Americans will protect Israel.
