Of course, if it's been coded into a website, there has to be a formula otherwise the site is guessing, and for a 1 in 7 chance it's right, that's not good odds ;)

yes such a formula exist
a year has 365 days , 365 / 7 has remainder 1 thus if your birth day is on monday , next year it will be on thuesday. UNLESS there is a leap year involved
