Disappointing isn't it. I remember when you were only allowed to field two foreign players in a game from any one side. And even back then all the pundits were saying how the English youngsters weren't able to get into the 1st team because of foreign talent pushing them down the pecking order.
Now I'm not one for stopping people from working where they want to, but if someone can find employment in another country because there isn't the quality of homeland people to fill the position then I don't begrudge them the opportunity. We need to keep improving our grass roots football for the kids so that they can complete with the foreign players.
It's upto the academies (of every club) in the English game to find the new talent, nurture it and then blood it in the 1st team when they're ready. Fergi did it at ManU and won a few championships along the way (albeit with a trillion-billion pounds in budget to spend over the years) so it can be done. If Ashley Cole goes to Chelski then there is another one gone, and not to mention Sol Campbell having already left!
It doesn't bode well for our national teams' future if our youngsters keep getting replaced by foreign imports of a better quality.

Not many people actually watched the match because Hoyte played and is English lol but yeah of course they are english, an english team playing in England supported by English fans.
If it wasn't for our new ultra cool stadium we'd probably have enough money to afford english players. Its shocking when Championship players cost £10 million, whats next is conference players costing £10 million in a few years

Of course they are still an English team.. despite no English player put in field tonight, they still bring the English spirits and English dignity.
All the glory of Arsenal are the glory of English Football.

No you can't really call them an English team. I know the majority of Premiership sides have lots of foreign players, but to have a whole team last night and not one of them English, to me that is very wrong. There wasn't even anyone English on the bench!! Very Bad.

We are definitley still an English team. To say otherwise is ridiculous. Our youth academy is full of young English talent and the majority of the backroom staff are English.
If you don't like it, don't watch it! It's club football, not international. I would hate it if Arsenal had a team full of mediocre English players (the top english players are far too expensive, e.g. £18m for Carrick!).

I believe the club, Arsenal apparently (from the last time i looked) play football in the ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP, so i think that makes them an ENGLISH team, i.e., Its not the players that determine the nationality of the team, it's the football association that they are affiliated to, Arsenal are affiliated to the ENGLISH FA, so that therefore make them an ENGLISH TEAM

I asked a similar question recently and got lots of remarks saying I was racist!!!!
I think there aren't enough English players in English leagues these days. Chelsea fielded the first all foreign team last season I think!
Not saying I am against international players, but a few more brits would be nice - it would give us more choice and experience in international tournaments too.

I agree with you in part, but unfortunately the premier teams all field foreigners some more than others....its just part of the modern game unfortunately.
You cant blame Arsenal for wanting the best players, every team wants that.
