the problem with the world today is that people tend to be more and more humanistic.... legislation doesn't seem to be the solution as it often has a way of complicating things more. a mere addition of 'rules' or 'laws' to set new guidelines on what is acceptable or not acceptable, in most cases, does not necessarily ensure we're going to get the cooperation we need from people in general. the problem is much deeper...it is a breakdown on moral values on a large scale. Getting dirty by digging deep and zeroing in on the root of this problem to start rebuilding a foundation of strong moral values is going to be so much more challenging but its where we have to start. any other approach is just like putting a band-aid on a deep wound.

Yes, it's what happens in theocracies. For example, historically in saudi arabia, the schools primarily taught the Koran by rote memorization, and the world history lessons had a decided bias against western values. In 1930's germany, hatred of jews was taught in schools and adopted in legislation; anti-semitism was widely accepted in those days. Today, politicians and religious groups are trying to have creationism taught in public schools in the USA, forcing students to answer test questions according to genesis or face failing grades.

I wouldn't kmnow how you could tell people how to feel, and I don't think I'ld like that. About informing people, yes, that is a good thing, and a government can make sure people are well informed.

Undermine?
How can somebody not armed with facts undermine somebody who is?
Just be content that you are so smart and everybody else is so stupid and uninformed.
Feel better?
