I need a super expert in British English to answer this.As the answers given r not helping me!!!!!!!!!!!

"The three girls indignantly said"...
The problem is that the verb "said" is transitive, so you are leaving off a direct object in the sentence. (Basically, "the girls said" isn't a complete sentence; the girls must've said something.) And, if there is a direct object, the adverb should go after it. So, let's simplify the sentences:
"The girls said indignantly something."
"The girls indignantly said something."
When we phrase it that way, "The girls said indignantly something" sounds clearly wrong.

Both are correct but most users choose the first one.
