For many women its a real turn on that a man can cook them a gourmet meal. I know of no faster or better way to "get women" than to offer to cook something for them. Yet, I try to explain this to the younger generation of guys and they look at me as if I was completely nuts!
On top of that when you are married and the kids arrive, you can be excused from the filthy horrible job of changing and cleaning Junior, if you are whipping up a nice roast beef with Yorkshire pudding in the kitchen!
PLUS, is you are not fabulously rich, if you can cook, you can eat pretty much whatever you want, when you want! PLUS, you don't have to poison your body with all those really bad preservatives and artificial chemicals, everything is fresh!
My wife is a really talented lady in many ways and I couldn't live without her, but in the kitchen, she's a disaster. She can screw up boiling water! My son loves his mother more than anything in the world, but if she goes near the kitchen, he's terror-struck, "oh, Dad, please don't let Mum cook..." There is a certain "mentality" needed to cook well, I have it my wife doesn't.
I do the cooking and I love it! I am now a Master at Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, Texan, Italian, French, Thai, and still learning! I live in Mexico and still get a few odd looks from the real "macho" guys. Why should my family suffer from outdated stereotypes? A man who isn't confident enough in his masculinity to learn to cook, can't be much of a Man.......

Of course, especially if he wants to eat.
It is not fair for women to continue being 'housewives'. House chores should be shared between the members of the family. Including cooking.

Yes. The man may never get married, or if he does, he never knows when his wife will be indisposed. He should learn how to cook to feed himself and his children.

yes, that way they can take care of themselves when they grow up and still have a decent meal. they can also help their wives if she works, or has a baby. everyone should be taught to be self sufficient, and if no one teaches you, you should learn how to cook on your own. that's what cookbooks are for.

yes, but only if he wants to impress the ladies otherwise I would say that a man should at least know the basics on how to make beacon and eggs.
