I don't mean to pose a sexist question but let's face it women and men do things differently. I have a hard time in math and I want to know in general do you feel women or men make better math teachers. Thank you.

As a female computer engineering student who has taken a few math courses where most of my classmates are male... I think men are better at math. However, if it comes to TEACHING math, I believe women are more patient and could be more detailed about it. This is, of course, only my personal opinion. =)

That's because women prefer a more quiet and peaceful job like being a teacher and most women like kids more than men usually do. Over all, most men are mathematicians because technically (and unfortunately) men ARE better at math. Now that doesn't mean every guy is better at math than every girl, it just means the ratio is higher. Being a female myself, it's kinda hard to accept that but it's also true. :/ Although women are catching up in math with the men. (: p.s. i'm not trying to sound sexist, but sadly it's a fact. ]:

Unfortunately or fortunately, men are much better than women at being Math teachers. It is not that men do things differently - women get too emotional and hence are more suited to doing subjects like art, history and English, but definitely not Maths. Women are somehow not suited to the role of Math teachers and neither can they effectively drive behind the wheel! Somehow, these things are meant for men to do properly!

More men than women are interested in math, so there are more men mathmeticians, therefore more math teachers. The women that are teachers are equally qualified as the men, some more so.

gender not a deciding factor for me. I've had really good female/male teachers and really bad ones of both genders too. The "goodness" of a teacher actually also depends on your learning style.
And on the side of the teacher, his/her teaching/learning styles, personality, etc

Part of it depends on who responds to their students better. I don't think it's gender specific. I've had good teachers and bad ones, and gender isn't always the deciding factor.

i've had 2 women math teachers (that i remember) and only one of them was good. they both were to lenient about classroom disruptions so it made it hard to learn. My vote is male

I really don't think it matters. it is about the personalty and the teaching style.

different people will respond to different situations and teachers.
