It varies but anything between 2 - 10 days - to find out more see http://www.deathonline.net/decomposition/decomposition/index.htm . I would however only go to this site at a time where I hadn't eaten and had no intention of eating for a long time as this shows the various stages of decomposition.

Maggots would only be on a body if the body was in the open, if it was in a coffin, then nothing would get to it. The real answer would be if the body was in the open, would be as soon as a fly's egg hatched..depends how many flies are in the vicinity as to how quickly they land on the body and start laying eggs...

Sam Taylor Wood did a sped-up fifteen minute video sculpture of a dead hare next to a peach. It was poignant- you see the hare decompose, and maggots writhe over it and strip it to the bone, leaving only a few tufts of fur... in that time, the peach doesn't even blemish, doesn't even begin to rot, or so it seems... of course, you can't believe everything you see, but it was a strong image.

usually, if the body is burried in the cemetary--the guts are usually taken out before it rots, and preservatives are added to the body to keep it from smelling like rotted meat. but i doubt maggots form..that only happens in zombie movies. the body just slowly evaporates into dusk..and what is left is ofcourse...a corpse.

It depends on the place, the temperature etc. I guess it would be pretty quick if the body was outside on a very hot day, less so if it was during the colder months.

I am not sure about HOW LONG but I think that it depends on the factors for decomposition to occur(warmth, moisture n O2). So if all of these factors r sufficient for decomposition to occur, than that will be it!
