Scotland was invaded by England to pay the bulk of debt owing from years of wars with the French as well as extending their territory.
Funny how our oil is good enough to fund England's economy and of course the BBC or is that the EBC always shows Scots to be drunks and thieves on the TV; of course no-one who is English ever does anything like that. I frequently go to England and have English friends.
Anything that England doesn't want gets dumped here! Nuclear waste from Japan should ring a bell. Anyway, the question is too vague to be answered with any clarity.

Lots of wildlife habitats, coastal regions of outstanding natural beauty, off-shore bird colonies... you did ask about environment didn't you? They have wind and probably wave farms too, but London has dumped several nuclear power stations up there and there are a few naval bases. I don't actually know of any coal-fired power stations in Scotland, but I suppose there could be some somewhere.

Can you clarify? Is this a question about environment, rainfall, wildlife diversity, that kinda thing? Is it a question about politics? or is it a question about why the hell, with oil at $77 a barrel we have to send subsidy of £1,000 a year from every man woman and child to the Exchequer to try to keep London functioning and pay for wars we don't want?
