Alas, my last question for a while. IS fire ALIVE? I mean, it grows, reproduces, eats, breathes, is it alive?? What defines something as "alive"?

Emotion defines something as alive, a.k.a. Feeling...
Fire feels you, wants to consume you, will chase you to get at you and if you attempt to stop it, Fire will get ANGRY and backdraft or strike at you one last time before it's to weak to do so, given half the chance Fire will find a way around your attempt to stop it and seek Revenge before giving up...

In order for something to be alive, it has to have a life cycle. Fire does not have a life cycle, even though it has similar names as a breathing living thing. That is a limitation based on the English language. The similar words does not mean that fire is alive.
;-D Take care not to burn yourself.

Suppose It's alive, It's burning a whole mountain and the firemen come up to kill it, Don't you think there would be a strike in the whole city because the fire was killed by men?
I'd better think the fire should go to jail for assassination of plants and animals.

Fire can't make decisions. Fire isn't self aware. Fire feeds off of fuel sources, to be sure, but it doesn't exhibit any of the tendencies we would consider to be indicators of life, no matter how much it may appear to be alive.
Fire moves from point to point without any consideration. It simply takes the path of least resistance, without exception. Humans also tend to take the path of least resistance, but at least for them, it's a choice.

of course it is alive just like trees and plants are alive...it consists of different molecules and atoms..they are "alive" they are just assembled in a way that creates fire...us humans are made of different elements also and the way they are assembled gives us our appeareance
alive doesnt mean it can talk like us human. or interact with others like animals..it means to be made of elements ..it can only be not alive when the fire runs out ...just like a human when it dies isnt alive b/c its cells dont function anymore

Although it mimics certain aspects of organic creatures (i.e. Breathing, Eating) fire is simply a chemical reaction and has no conciousness of its own.
