Define "war". My opinion is the United States has not won a war by itself since the Spanish-American war. We assisted Europe in both WW1 and WW2. We never won in Korea, just managed a "truce". To those that say we pulled out of Vietnam I saw the news footage of North Vietnam tanks busting down the walls of the US Embassy in Siagon just as the last U.S. evacuation helicopters lifted off from the Embassy roof and it looked like a full scale retreat to me...so I'd say we lost in Vietnam. Everything else this country has been involved in have not been wars as I see them. Techinically we haven't been at war since WW2. The Constitution (...remember that document all you die hard right wing Republican Christian conservatives?..) states that only Congress can declare war.

We left Nam, were we beaten no. At least not militarily. Our Media portrayed us as losing but as usual that was not correct. Even Ho Chi Men stated that they could not beat us they had to out-wait us. Panama, Grenada, were not wars we accomplished what we wanted and left. Same with Iraq 1 (Desert Storm)

We won the most important and longest war of all. The Cold War. We brought that other 'superpower' to it's knees and kept all those ungrateful European countries from being over run and having the hammer and sickle fly above their capitals.

I'm unaware of any declared war in the past 40 years; I mean it!
Congress is supposed to declare war, but doesn't / won't. They, instead, sing hymns on the capital steps. If they won't even get behind a war -- by merely declaring it -- we probably aren't serious enough to be committed to quickly winning.

1986 -- Libya, 1988 -- Panama, 1991 -- Iraq, 1993 Bosnia/Yugoslavia/Kosovo, Although there has not actually been a "war" in that time frame. Congress has not declared one.

Though there were few casualties on either side, we technically won the Cold War.
