Time is the essence of anything and you are having it a lot. You being pretty crafty and enjoy making things, why can't you try making artistic craft items with the material available in your area which are not that costly. Afterall it is a month's time which will be over in his rememberqance only. Also you could pen-down the details of your special occassions, which could be a gift on his arrival.

Volunteer somewhere, find a knitting or craft club, read or watch movies, see if there is a local college with free events or exhibits, offer English lessons to your neighbors or have them teach you their language, take walks (start with just a couple blocks and go farther as you get to know the area), attend religious service (either your faith or learn more about the local), window shop, write letters to husband and family and friends back home, exercise (Curves is just about everywhere now, not an ad for them just fact)

Have an affair. LOL im just playin dont take that seriously please. Go out and find out about the area, whether it be walking, driving (if you own a car there), train, bus, cab, just find out about the area find out where you can go for certain things fast food groceries pharmacy. Also when your walking just try to go to some places where you can meet some friends. 1. Most important your neighbors (if u have any). Other places just places where you think people would go your age, gym, starbucks, club, anything. Also go to the movies, go clubbing (if you like it and theres any nearby). Its perfect that you have a full month to yourself and your new in an area cause you can just explore and find out about things easier and faster than if you were busy this whole month.

you pretty much answered your own question. working on crafts
will make the time go by. also getting out and walking short distances everyday will help you familiarize you with the area. are there any groups where you are that is a good way to meet people and don't forget the folks back home i'm sure they would love to hear from you!!!!

Keep a journal to share with your husband when he comes home (or not), learn a new craft, read, see if your area needs volunteers, ask for penpals on Yahoo Answers.

How about meeting people over there? Neighbors, local church of your same beliefs? Do you have kids? If so, what about meeting their friends and family?
Research this new place. Learn more about the town or city you are in, their ways, history, beliefs.
