I have problem of heart burn if I am not careful. I dont use any medicines, but usually the following keeps it under control:

1) avoid oily and spicy foods - especially in the evening and night times.

2) drink cold milk every night before you sleep - milk neutralising the acidic effects of food

3) when you start getting the burning feeling, take some vanilla icecream - that should calm it down.

if its bad then take "gaviscon".

heart burn is caused by over active acids in the stomach and spicy food only agravates these. sometimes this acidic mixture manages to throw itself upwards into the eosophagus or food pipe and this area is very sensitive, thus the burning feeling.

if you ignore heart burn, it could lead to eosophagitis and damaging your food pipe.

good luck
:)

As an African where heartburn is a common occurance due to poor feeding and unbalanced dieties, the heartburn is cured by fresh cow milk, preferably hot one. However this may be temporarily, because every after meal you seem to feel the heartburn. That is you have to have milk at every meal.

You can try everything that contains milk since getting fresh milk in your areas is almost impossible. By fresh milk I mean, from the cow and cook it with no other ingredients. Try this and tell me.

I don't know any home remedies, but my husband takes Prilosec OTC for his heartburn. You have to take a pill every day, but as long as you do, you don’t get heartburn. If you still experience it after taking the Prilosec, you should really see a doctor.

There are various home treatments for the symptoms. A small amount of baking soda dissolved in milk is good. The important thing is to find out what causes the problem and avoid it.

OK, you get half a pint of milk and a polo.
Suck the polo and drink the milk slowly, then crunch up the polo and swallow.
