putting religious and political views aside, do you think if a person had a choice by genetic engineering and/or psychology to change their sexual orientation that it would be justified to do so?

Diverse sexual orientation has always existed. In many cultures homosexuality was considered more noble than heterosexuality. My question to you is how would you feel if the genetic engineering and/or psychology was used to orient everyone towards homosexuality to reduce overpopulation of the earth? Anytime you try to change who a person is physically (plastic surgery) or psychology (changing sexual orientation) you disturb what they were created to be. If you believe in God, shouldn't you wonder if you are going against God's plan by doing this?

If a person had a choice by either genetic engineering or psychology to change their sexual orientation would it be justified? That's up to the individual. If they want to make the change, then they should do it. What's to justify?

I'm so sorry that I answered this to not your request. I am changing my answer right now. I never make mistakes...this must mean I am losing my touch.

Psychologically, it would require a lot of training with the mind. They have straight camps that give this sort of training to "make" teen males and females straight, and it all sounds pretty much psychological...and a load of crap. You're the way you are, aren't I correct?

Through genetic engineering, it may be possible to change the orientation, but it must include hormonal imbalance/rebalance in order to get desire for the sex in which you are modifying the interest level.

So, I suppose that if the person is absolutely sure that this change is going to make his or her life easier, then so be it; it's justified. It's a lot like the sex change if you ask me. Except with sex change, you have to give up things that are a part of you and you may miss them in the future.

I don't think you can change a persons sexual orientation with psychology. I don't think I've met anyone who wanted to change their sexual orientation. :)

I feel that if someone isn't hurting anyone but themselves it is their choice to do what they want to their body/mind...religion aside...but I don't understand why anyone would ever choose to be homosexual if they don't have that natural tendancy to begin with...it goes against every law of nature...reproduction...the desire for the human race to continue. I can only imagine someone not wanting to be homosexual but being born with that natural inclination...I don't know how to think anyother way.

i read it somewhere that most people are bisexual by birth. it is later in our life that when we are growing up , our parents try to condition us based on our sex. this results in suppressing homosexual genes and making heterosexual genes active. Now if for some reasons someone wants to reverse these changes, than it is a matter of personal choice.

Only if the person in question wants to make the change.

For the approximately 30% of our population who are bisexual, its is a moot question. For the rest, if the option were there, and the option were open to all, I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't think that most people think about politics or religeon when they are contemplating having sex, no matter what 'orientation' they be thinking of, but if they are, then the least of their problems are about sex.
