I keep African cichlids. One of my tank bosses is a Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos. Or Big Johnny (common name is maingano or electric blue johanni). He is the biggest (5 inches) of his kind and the oldest as well (probably about 1.5-2 years old). He's in a 75 gallon aquarium with about 20 other cichlids including 5 of his kind. He knows when it is feeding time like all the others. I change about 20 to 30% of the water every week.
The other tank boss is an Auloncara Jacobfreibergi Undu Reef (AKA Lemon Jake). He is known as Jake. He's about 1.5 to 2 years old as well and about 5.5 inches long. He's most often one of the first to beg for food.
I often greet the them when I feed them but not just to greet them in the morning.

Ho boy.. You're asking for a long one here...
In the 55-gallon tank:
Types, names, and sizes (I'll combine 'em to make it a little easier): 2 silver dollars (Pancake and Benedetto) - about 3 inches each, 3 African dwarf frogs (Freddina, Fifi, and Shaft) - bout an inch and a half each, 2 female guppies (Sky and Midnight) - inch and a half - and 3 unnamed guppy fry - half inch to an inch, 7 neon tetras (The Dwarves) - inch each, 3 zebra danios (Wilbur, Bubba, and Cletus) - inch and a half each, one male betta (Homer Heywood Jablome, or Homer J for short) - two inches not including tail, and one ghost shrimp (Louis) - an inch and a half.
Why they were so named? Pancake was named because he's so flat, and Benedetto was our 3rd attempt at keeping silver dollars and we didn't want him to die (so we'd look at him and say, "Don't you die on us, Benedetto!" - not sure what it's from, but the other half named both of 'em). I named the frogs - had a thing going on with the F-names for a while (Freddina and Fifi - both girls) til Freddy died; then we got Shaft and he became the man of the tank. Since he was so dark and manly, Shaft fit perfectly (you know, like the singer/actor?). Sky and Midnight (the guppies) are named because of their colors; Sky has a blue/white tail and Midnight has a black tail. They did have a male, Booboo, but he committed suicide and was eaten by the cat. Haven't named the fry yet because..well.. we're still not entirely sure if their male or female :-P There used to be 8 neons, so they WERE Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but Snow White passed on (or committed suicide - we never did find the carcass). The danios are so spazzy and...well... for some reason, I thought of rednecks when watching them, so they all got redneck names. Homer, the betta, is a combination of past betta names. Our first ever was Heywood Jablome (heh), or Heywood for short. Our second was Heywood II. The third was Homer (cuz the other half has a thing for the Simpsons). So Homer Heywood is our fourth betta. And last, but not least, the ghost shrimp. There used to be 4 of them (I killed one), and because of their long feelers, I thought they looked French, so they were all given French-sounding names. Then two of 'em were eaten. So only Louis is left.
They are trained to eat when the filter and aerator get turned off. That's about it.
20-25% water changes weekly.
The 20-gallon tank:
One inhabitant - Lil Brudder. Rescued from Walmart (two weeks ago now) male Betta. Currently being treated for fin rot and possible columnaris. He's Lil Brudder because he's so pitiful looking.. and he can make it on his own! (Not sure if you watch the Homestar Runner internet cartoons or Strong Bad emails, but Lil Brudder is a character that Strong Bad created to make Homestar cry...) He's about an inch not including his tail. He's not trained, but he made one heck of a bubblenest in there today.. Holy Christ on a crutch, I've never seen one like that before! And his water gets changed every week, 20-25% each time.
And last, the 10-gallon tank. Holding a rescued from Walmart male guppy to replace Booboo. His name is Gonzo because..well..he goes gonzo everytime you walk in the room! He's maybe an inch, and will be added to the 55-gallon when we know he's healthy (can't trust them fish from Walmart, ya know). Not trained to do anything. His water gets changed 'bout 15% every week.
I greet all the fish everytime I walk past them. And I suppose we cheat with the water changes, too, because we use a Python to clean and add water to the tanks. So much easier than lugging buckets of water to and from the tank and sink.
We also have a 35-hex tank to be used for angels, another 55-gallon tank to be used for cichlids, and a 35-long tank which I'm trying to convince the other half to use for another community tank with Blue Rams. This is, of course, after we get a house.
Wow, that was long. I like my fishies :-P
EDIT: Oops. Only 3? Woulda helped if I woulda read that earlier :-P

I keep marine fish but do not name them. it takes effort to do it.
Koi react to humans especially those that feed that daily. You can even touch them.
