I also feel I have rls, and have talked to my doctor about it a little. Unfortunately, he did not have much advice except for to purchase a good mattress (not enough money) and to avoid eating or drinking anything that will keep me me awake at night. I have Diabetes II and also frequent insomnia, and this is an ongoing struggle for me.
But I did find a website that lists different medications that are often prescribed and treatments that can be used. The first link is their main page, and the second link goes to a document - go to page 5 in that document for treatment information.
The third link, is an article that discusses the 'best treatment for rls', which they say is a regular walking program, hot/cold baths, and different drugs.
I have found that the more physically active I am, the easier it is to get to sleep, because I am twitching and moving around much less than normal.
Good luck! :)

Don't watch the commercials, they are made to trigger RLS. Exercise and move about regularly through the day and you'll feel fine. It's just you body wanting to burn off excess energy.

A banana a day may help; bananas contain potassium which helps to alleviate this problem. What also helps for me is a couple of generic Tylenol at bedtime. They ease the symptoms and make me drowsy.
