Urban areas are cities. Major cities. Lots of large factories or commercial centers, people live in multi-story buildings.

Rural areas are "the country". Farms or wilderness. Houses are usually separated by lots of land, sometimes with a small town center.

There is also the "Suburban" areas. Very little manufacturing, although often lots of smaller commercial buildings (more shopping malls and stores, but fewer office buildings). Lots of residential housing, with some apartments, but also single family homes, often on small plots of land.

People also talk about "Subrural" areas that aren't quite Rural, but that's just being picky.

Suburban after that... But as someone said industrial could be seen as one because if rural means 'Of or relating to people who live in the country: rural households.', urban means 'Of, relating to, or located in a city.' (but now days its sued to describe a run down place,I guess if it does mean the city it would mean industrialisation anyway).Surburban 'Of, relating to, or characteristic of a suburb' ( suburb ' 1. usually residential area or community outlying a city. 2.suburbs The usually residential region around a major city; the environs) Industrial - 'Of, relating to, or resulting from industry: industrial development; industrial pollution' However yes I think theres industrial, suburban, rural & urban- got a tad confused while writing this, I need to go over my geography! If I was you i'd stick to three forget industrial its too confusing, it happens all the time in urban areas therefore its something classed under urban. Jeez I better stop before I confuse myself again!
