You shouldn't be the one who should fix it since the truck backed into it. BY LAW!!! Try and find out who is the guy that smashed into you.

Even if you know how to panel beat the heck out of the trunk, it will take alot of effort smoothing out bumps and repainting the job.

I remember smashing into someone, and a replacement on the bumper bar is $700AU which is riduculous. that's like $1000US if you were wondering.

Good thing you said trunk. That way someone would know that the front (engine, radiator, etc.) might be dammaged! LOL

But seriously, if it was only the trunk lid itself you could do it yourself if you don't mind the color difference. Even the same color vehicle may look different due to sun fade. If any further dammage has occoured you may need a body shop.

sure you can fix it your self all i would do is go to your local auto wreckers and get another trunk lid if its just that. that is damaged and then if you want it to match your paint on your car just take the new trunk to a body shop and they will get the color code of your car and will paint it that's about the cheapest way unless you just want it fixed and don't care what the color is you may luck out and get one the same color too

Well, it depends on what was damaged. If the engine, radiator, etc. was damaged, take it to a repair shop. It is just too much work to do it yourself.

If only body panels were damaged, I think it would still be wise to take it to the body shop, just because it's MUCH easier.

I used to work in a mechanics shop, and it takes a LOT of work to fix cars. If you do it yourself, you're in for some labour!!!
