Stop taking birth control? Start having sex? heh...
No, seriously, you should see a doctor, both of you, and get checked out. If you discover that it's simply a matter of timing, you can arrange things better. If you discover it's one or the other of you primarily holding up progress, there are treatments available for either partner. Alternatively, if you prefer taking your chances, just relax, stop TRYING to get pregnant, and just enjoy the thrill of getting to have as much unprotected sex as you can handle. Research actually shows more people NOT trying to get pregnant DO, because it was fun, not work.

First take the cheap road. Go to your local public library and check out books on achieving pregnancy and overcoming infertility (these books talk a lot about how to handle problems getting pregnant). They will also tell you what steps your doctor should take to assess your and your husband's fertility.
One step your doctor might take is a procedure called an HSG. If the dye travels slowly up your tubes, tell him/her to squirt again. This cleans out your tubes. When my doc did that I was pregnant the next month.
