No. Medians only make sense when describing data on which there exists a total order (that is, for any two elements, one is either more or less than the other, or they are equal). Most forms of categorical data have no such relationship (is "male" greater than, less than or equal to "female"? Obviously, none of the above.), and thus the median cannot be defined on such data.

The only commonly used measure of central tendency which makes sense on categorical data is the mode.

I dont know about categorial data but it can be described in numerical data.
