If it does exist, it can't be called non-existence. But if it does not, then everything exist, which can't be possible. So does it exist?

the concept exists. For example, God doesn't exist, so it is possible for things to not exist. However, something that doesn't exist itself doesn't exist, so you can't say it does. You can think it up, so the concept may exist, but that doesn't mean it's real.

You're just twisting the words around to make a really simple question...if it is even a question, difficult. Just because there is no other acceptable synonyms for the word "exist" in the English language in this case, doesn't make the question any more complicated. You're asking if the word exists, not the actually questioning the state of being of something.

How about putting it this way and maybe you wouldn't be so confused..."is non-existence possible?"

Yes it does exist. But that doesn't necessarily mean that non-existence does not exist. It is merely a word that describe something that does not exist. The language to describe something and the actual being itse;f are two seperate things. I'm sure the question was meaning to be facetious but I thought I would take a serious go at it anyway :-) Hope this helps!

Existence applies to objects. Non-existence is a concept rather than an object. Everything that "is" has existence. In speaking we say "anything that doesn't exist" but really it should be "nothing that doesn't exist" and nevermind the double negative. "Everything" and "anything" imply that there is a "thing" to not exist but if it doesn't exist, it is not a "thing".

It depends on what reality you're talking about..

In physical reality, there is nothing that exists which resembles a flying purple pig I am now thinking of.. so this is non-existent on Earth.

However, it exists in my mind, so on this level, yes it exists as a thought.

Existence and/or nonexistence are states of being, not objects. Does ignorance "exist" though it has no form? If existence means being and nonexistence means not being, then nonexistence is the state of not being and therefore exists in that state.

non existence does not exist...it occurs when existence is absent
to make it more clear here is an example...there is no such thing as darkness becos we cannot measure darkness
darkness is just the absence of light

got it???

Negativity is a state, so I think the absence or negativity of something can exist.
