im getting 3 horses and a donkey in 2 years maybe a little less. but by then i hope to have my siberian husky. would the siberian husky, golden retriever, cow, and the donkey get along with 3 horses? they will have about 6 acres to run. but i was told it wasnt a good idea to have that many pets around horses and donkies. i also have 2 cats. And in the near future i plan on getting a Great Dane. i love animals. would they get along okay without problems?

You may very well run into problems with the donkey and dogs.
Donkeys will associate the dogs with coyotes and wolfs (they are canine) they are natural enemies. That is why so many farmers keep donkeys in the pasture with their cows. When the cows are having calves the wolfs and coyotes will often try to kill the small newborn calf's. The donkey will fight to the death to keep the predators out.
And to the donkey a dog, coyote or wolf are enemies.
It might not be able to distinguish the family pet from a killer. They all look the same to them.

Horses, cats and dogs all get along fine. But, donkeys and horses should not graze on the same land as donkeys are carriers of lung worm and can pass it onto horses. You can keep both together as long as they don't graze off the same paddock and you can't rotate their paddocks either.

Also, just one thing, have you thought about all of the implications of keeping all of these animals? Looking after one or two is not the same as having a whole herd of them! They are very hard work and take a lot of care, attention, time and more importantly, money. Please think it through before taking on so many animals.

We, for example, have 3 dogs (one of which is a Great Dane) and four horses and they cost an enormous amount of money each week and then you have the vets bills on top when something goes wrong. Also we can never just take off when we feel like it as there is so much time involved in looking after them. We love it and have accepted this, but it is not for everyone.

I don't know where in the world you live. But 3 horse, cow and donkey. Doesn't sound like you have enough room with only 6 acres. Unless you live where grass grow well because horse can be very expensive to keep. On harder times you may have to feed the horse all year around. This can get very expensive.
There is no reason they can't get along as long as you train and show the new and old animals to each other.

Depends on their personalities, and how you handle it
Make sure all animals are socialized (=met them and had good experinces around them while very young) to the other species, that would be a big help.
Warning: do not let the horses and donkeys graze the same fields. Donkeys often have a lungworm, that are completely innocent in the donkey, but makes horses really sick.
Talk this concern over with a vet that specialises in equid (horses and donkeys) - there might be ways to treat the donkey - depends on what are available and legal to use in your country.
But the donkeys-lung-worm is a species of worm that can be difficult to get rid off.

It sounds like you don't have any experience with large animals. I would suggest that you find someone to help and teach you how to be around large animals so you don't get injured. Yes, these animals could learn to get along with each other. I would suggest that you start out with 1 horse and your dogs to gain some knowledge on horsemanship before you get into something that will be way over your head. There is ALLOT to learn about a horse other than feeding it at one end and then having to clean up at the other end.. Suggest that you go to your local library and get some books on horses. Not knowing your age I would suggest that you might get involved in 4H Horse through your local 4H Group, for your own safety. Even if you are a young adult this is a good source to start with. Please don't try to do this on your own if you don't have any experience. I hope this helps you.. Good Luck

Depends on the critters. My gelding made best friends with the neighbors German Shepherd. I got a young filly who hates dogs, don't figure? Critters have there own thoughts about other animals. Just get them used to each other as soon as possible.
We also have big dogs, Saint Bernard and the other is a massive (weigh more then I do)Then we have a cow dog too. They are so funny (the big dogs) when they get around the horses for other dogs cower at them and the horses don't lol!

Not nearly enough room... and when animals are crowded, even the best natured ones will fight more.

From what you describe, you wont have any grass in 3 weeks of all the animals living there, you'll be overrun with manure and... well... gawdforbid when it rains.
