Go to your local AutoZone.From 1996 & up all gasoline vehicles have the same on board computer system.( Hence the name Global OBD II )They will reset your computer in about 30 seconds at no charge.George M was right up untll thes newer model cars.From 1996 and sometimes 1995 & up,disconnectint the battery will not do it.You have to have it done by an OBDII code scanner which AutoZone does at no charge.

disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds and when you reaply the power the computer will "reset" or "Reboot" often times you can reset the engine codes this way also

With a scan tool designed for that year and type of vehicle. Or,
try disconnecting the negative battery cable and touching it to the positive.

pull the fuse if you can find it ,saves resetting clock etc.
if cant find the right one disconnect the battery for a minute.
