I suspect we are like 3 dimensional comic strip characters and the most significant part of BEING is that we create some sort of amusing story for SOMEONE?
We are memory maKers, so in that sense, someone who makes pastries for a living doesn't have to varnish EVERY pastry or remember EVERY batch they baked!
Just enjoy your own unique comic strip and any memory you create and any memory you retain is all bonus's.
I once obsesses on this subject, starting a journal when I was 12 and finally stopping when I was 38! I have 45 books filled with damn near DAILY entries! Ask me why? I have no clue at this point. Will be fun when I'm 99 but we can OVERKILL on our search to feel TOO IMPORTANT in the scheme of things!
Good Question, I agree!

It may matter a great deal. If you put $100,000 into a safety deposit box, and don't remember it later, you are out a lot of money. As for life generally, consider your objectives: you have a biological urge to procreate, and continue your genetic existence, and you may have an urge to find some significance in life other than basic biology. Carl Sagan said it well: If you want your life to have significance, do something significant.

it is an interesting question. bydway, it always matters, everything we do is interconnected to other people. e.g. u aced that job, u think hey its great but no big deal but to the other person who did not get it, he might be devastated which might lead to depression and quarrels wiht spouse over money and maybe even divorce which made their children miserable that made of the children so adamant to change his money-less childhood condition that he works so damn hard and one day ends up as a media 'multi-millionaire' mogul 40 years from now. Get my point? Just do ur best everyday, its really worth it :)

If its a bad experience then it wont matter
But if it's a happy experience then it matters
But these two comes hand and hand
It only matters if it's important but
If you forget the name of the guy you sleep with during a wild party, then its good
But if it's a happy moment with my dad, it will matter
I want to remember every moment of it

everyone will die when the planet dies, the sun wont blow for about 300 million years yet, nothing matters if you dont remember it unless you are taking a test or hurting someones feelings because you dont remember . in the scheme of the universe, you dont matter at all, in your family maybe you matter a great deal. i dont know.

you should confront this guy, and ask HIM what the hell occurred! See if he will be problem-free, because it truly is a probability it replaced into more effective probability free than you recognize. besides the shown actuality that I do get the impact it replaced into borderline rape (I advise, he absolutely took income of the region), yet in case you nor your boyfriend can prepare "foul play" than that's particularly a lot hopeless in case you needed to record rape prices. curiously you weren't kicking or screaming or something of that nature... i imagine your bf should be more effective in touch with in search of enlightenment or justice for this adventure...what does he study the guy? you've given sexual permission to this stranger on the time (as sketchy as that could look); or a minimum of that is what he could say if confronted with the help of you or authorities... i imagine you're afflicted more effective with the help of his clinging habit than the sex you've been situation to... even with the case, in case you imagine the police should be in touch, don't be afraid to the contact them. and commence getting information out of your boyfriend. i recognize you sense at a loss for words and violated, yet contain the authorities finally... assemble as a lot information as you could. If he would not end harrassing you, then absolutely tell the cop on your spouse and youngsters about what occurred. ...it can get nasty. He could likely be charged with lesser counts like sexual attack or something, if in any respect.

Well,if you believe that way then no. it wouldn't matter.
I read in one of your answers that one of the main reasons you don't believe in God is because he would burn sinners forever and ever...I'd feel the same way if I were you!
But the Bible never says that! It is a lie, that people invented to scare you into converting.
God will consume the sinners who choose to practice evil, as evil cannot coexist with God, but the fire will be extremely hot and consume them, and it will not torture them forever and ever. I could never love a God that wanted to torture us either. God is love and He loves me and that is why I love. God invented love, God is love and He loves you. And i'm sure He would want you to know that He would NEVER want to burn you forever and ever for all eternity.

it is an interesting q.
i don't think childhood memories matters much to our later life.
but from the man is mortal point of view, yes no memories matters. yet, as long as we are alive, short term memories or even long term professional memories is very important. we just can't do without them.
