I think you save them as mp3's or something else.

The cd wont play but I'm trying to transfer a large number of songs from one computer to another.

try saving them on a DVD. Yes. Save them as mp3 files and burn away. Copy the files from the DVD or CD on the new computer and enjoy.

Young Man, a normal mp3 will be of probably 3 or 4 MB. So obviously you can copy more than 150 MP3 files on to a CD of 600 or 700 MB Physical Size. This is what you call a Data CD.

Now when it comes to ACD : i.e. Audio CD you can only burn a maximum of around 10 or 12 songs as in the files will be converted to CDA format in an ACD.

Data CD: 150 mp3 files minimum
ACD : 12 to 15 audio files maximum

Now how to copy it: Data CD
I suppose you have a CD writer : Click the option to make a data cd in the CD writing software NERO For e.g.: Add all the mp3s you want to copy and then burn it.

For ACD, you will select the "Make Audio CD option in CD writing software for e.g. NERO.Add all the mp3s you want to copy and then burn it.

Once you are done with the burning proces, just validate the cd for data . this process is time consuming. just for ensuring all the data is secured in the CD.

Hope this will help you out

If both PC's are at the same location, consider networking them together over ethernet. It's actually a pretty easy process using a hub or crossover cable. The following sites will help:

If the songs are already in MP3 form, then it makes sense just to copy them to a bunch of CDs (which cost less than 10¢ a disc). That way, you'll also have a backup of them after making the move.

However, if you have kept the songs in a higher-quality lossless format such as WAV, then making the conversion to MP3 will result in some loss of quality (how much is a subject of debate). I would not compress them to MP3 just to move from one PC to another...

a single CD will not fit hundreds of songs, only 20, or 25 if you're lucky.

Putting them on a DVD would be a more logical thing. You need a DVD burner to do that. DVDs can hold any where from 4GB-8GB, opposed to CDs which only hold about 700MB (0.7GB).

Or you could purchase an external hard drive or flash USB drive for about $30 to store all your songs onto to transfer to your new computer.

Yup, save them as MP3 with low bit rate. Also, you can try to get the PCs networked to share files so you do not lose any audio integrity. If you have a DVD recorder, then you are more than good to go as you can record so much, but you will need a DVD player on the receiing end.

These people saying you can only put 25 songs don't know anything. You have to open the blank CD in windows explorer (My computer/Drive D, or the like) then drag and drop the files from "My Music" or wherever you keep your music, and burn. I made one today, and i got 152 songs, full length, piece o' cake.

First, you'll have to find hundreds of very short songs - you know, like the Jiffy-Lube commercial, and stuff.
