I am currently in school taking an economics/political science major with the intent of getting a job with the UN or an NGO so I can go to third world countries and do something helpful. I know I could just go at anytime but I wanted to have some kind of useful education to back me up. I would really like to go and find some way to help repair the lives of child soldiers.

You can help Action Aid by adopting a child in an underdevelopped country. You can donate to Unicef or buy Unicef notebooks, post cards, etc. You can become a foster parent. Or you can help children with problems in your own community (in orphanages, in poor families, etc), by doing volunteer work.
