basically at first there is a compression to raise the temp and pressure(like a compressore) then there is a expansion usually happens at constant pressure then there is a reversible expansion of the fuel (like a turbine) with drop in pressure. then there is a pressure drop and temp drop usually at a constant volume. this is usually how an ideal dissel cycle works.
