what was the best gift you got at your baby shower. I have no idea what to get my cousin and her wee one.

Practical, easy clothes that go off and on without trouble. Certificate for a photo studio.
I usually get gift certificates from baby stores so they can go get whatever they want.

Not a NEW mom, but I do have four children.
I remember TWO best gifts.
1. Sleepers one in each size up to size 18month. You know, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18. I liked this gift because; It lasted a whole year. They were all the same pattern, only different colors, and everyone always gets for the brand new baby. It was nice for someone to think about that
2. Home safety supplies and gadgets. Locks for cabinet doors, fridge, toilet seat, plug protectors, table corners, door knob covers, switch covers. EVERY THING in one big box. When my little one crossed the safety line, I had what I needed right there in the house already.

The best thing was a crib which are not cheap, on my first baby shower. But I found that diapers were the best gift of them all I would even have a baby shower of only diapers because furniture and accessories last longer, but diapers add up to be not cheap at all. But if you want to give her anything fancy, find out what her theme for the room is and give her a nice chair to help her rest and breast feed the baby.

Clothes that are 3-6 months or up because alot of people buy way too many newborn clothes that do not last very long. Diapers and wipes. Make an assorted gift basket there fun to look through.

Diapers and wipes that were the brand I requested. I didn't have to buy diapers for the first 2 months because I had a great stock, and with the price of diapers and as quickly as a newborn uses them, diapers are great.

something for the mother, i know i felt left out as it was my mans bday the day before then everyone came and brought gifts for bubba and it was like what abt me....shower gel and moisturiser was something i got from a mate who 3 months before had a baby, and that made me feel like a queen

everyone seems to forget about a baby book and baby bag. An engraved rattle is nice if you now the sex/name of the baby.

anything is special but a car seat helped me out alot..rem will need diapers
